Staccionata (Italy) -2010 - ECCE!

Here comes the letter :

I'm one of the singer of Staccionata, an italian band ( www.myspace.com/staccionata ). We play an experimental psychedelic stoner-doom/hardcore, with some krautrock and some post-something....?
In the last days we recorded our first full lenght " ECCE! ", in the " locomotore studio " of Rome (Ufomammut and Lento recording there), and this is the link to download

Spreads like a weed

Awesome band from Wisconsin. Heavy, doomy, catchy, noisy
Recommended for listening next morning after a good dose of beer/weed/whiskey.
the song Solitarie personally made my morning.

Romero's Jeffrey Mundt spent most of the 90's behind the drum kit for a variety of bands including Bovine Records' THUG & punk legends, NAKED AGGRESSION. A long-time guitar player & songwriter, he often dabbled in fronting a band, but never pursued it seriously. Enter: a move to northern WI, a random Craigslist ad from bass player Josh Stanchik, a casual 8 month writing and recording session (with Mundt handling vocals, guitar & drums!) & Romero was born! Intent on creating a demo to locate & convince a drummer to work with them, Mundt & Stanchik were about a month from completion when... a drummer found them! Rumors of the project peaked the interest of PONEY drummer & vocalist Ben Brooks and he gleefully volunteered before even hearing a single note. Good thing he eventually liked what he heard!

ROMERO started playing live immediately. Very often. First, locally...then regionally...now, nation-wide! They have already shared the stage with the likes of Jucifer, Weedeater, Clutch, Black Label Society and other dyed-in-the-wool heavyweights.

ROMERO spreads like a weed.

Flying Frog

Frogwings began as an Allman Brothers/Aquarium Rescue Unit side project in 1997, with Edwin McCain as the lead singer. The band ran off five gigs in seven days in late May 1997, and the jazz/rock/calypso/metal fusion began. Founding members Butch Trucks [drums] and Jimmy Herring [guitar] were joined by the Burbridge brothers, Kofi [flute] and Oteil [bass], as well as Butch's nephew Derek [guitar/, and band and percussion-mate Marc Quinones. The successful May run was followed by a two-week trip up and down the East coast in December, and this run cemented Frogwings as a permanent part of the Allman Brothers Band sideshow.

FULL BLOWN A.I.D.S WAS FORMED BY SETH PUTNAM (GUITAR & VOCALS) IN EARLY 1997. AFTER HAVING A BUNCH OF FUCKED UP LINEUPS, HE FINALLY GOT TOGETHER WITH OLD FRIENDS PAULIE KRAYNAK (BASS) AND ROB WILLIAMS (DRUMS). THEY GOT TOGETHER ON ONE DAY IN JANUARY 2003 AND RECORDED AND MIXED 7 SONGS (ONE WHICH WAS USED BY THOR AS A DUET WITH SETH CALLED "THROWING CARS AT PEOPLE ON COKE WITH THOR"). THEY PLAYED A SHOW IN AUGUST, 2003, AND WERE SCHEDULED TO RECORD THE FINAL 3 SONGS TO MAKE A FULL LENGTH CD. UNFORTUNATLY, SETH WENT INTO A COMA SHORTLY BEFORE THE SECOND RECORDING SESSION.SETH EVENTUALLY RECOVERED. IN LATE 2006, AN IMPATIENT FAN TALKED SETH INTO RELEASING THE 6 SONGS FROM THE ORIGINAL SESSION ON A 12", WHICH IS LIMITED TO 200 COPIES ON LIMITED APPEAL RECORDS. AND IN LATE 2007, FULL BLOWN A.I.D.S. RECORDED THIER SECOND 12" RELEASE, WHICH WILL ALSO BE LIMITED TO 200 COPIES ON LIMITED APPEAL RECORDS. FULL BLOWN A.I.D.S. OCCASIONALLY PLAY SHOWS. THEY DID A COUPLE OF SHOWS IN JANUARY 2008 WITH KILSLUG IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. EVENTUALLY BOTH 12" RELEASES WILL BE RELEASED AS A CD.

Stoner/Doom/Fuzz bastards from UK.

Space says so :

"A Four piece unit conceived in the blackest heart of Nottinghamshire England. The band are a fusion of late 1960's psychedelic rock and the rock / heavy metal acts of the 1970's. Throw in a mix of punk and working class frustration and you have the sound that is MASTER CHARGER."

In July 2010 Master Charger went in to the studio to record a new four track E.P. Entitled simply as “Master Charger”

Hands of Orlac - Vengeance From the Grave

The name comes from the movie of the same name, which is a story about a pianist who has a murderer's hands grafted on to his after an accident. This guy is basically tortured by panic attacks and irrational fears as he believes that with the hands of the murderer he has also gained the murderer's predisposition to killing. The movie has a very dark atmosphere and has become a cult classic, this old-school Italian band has also a dark atmosphere and a sound with its roots in old Hammer Horror type films and the sounds of Traditional Metal acts like The Obsessed, Trouble and Black Sabbath but there is also a nod towards N.W.O.B.H.M, obviously in their cover version of the Angel Witch track "Sorceress" but also in the three original tracks also on this demo.

"This is a very ROUGH ep that was recoded on a TASCAM recorder in a non soundproofed room. It was recoded track by track with no metronome and can be off-time at times. The album is meant to give the listener an idea of our sound. Better recordings will be released in the near future, until then enjoy the rough ep. Could we possibly emphasize rough any further?"

Redgrave (Cze) - Demo

It's really hard to find any info in the internet for this band.
I supposed to watch them alive twice (Play fast or don't 2008, and the same year in Vrah). But two times the show failed. so all I know about Redgrave - there's some guys from Mass Genocide Process. They have a great live show dressed like a monks, turning the lights off, lighting the candles...and playing heavy as cave sludge/doom. So after few years suddenly I've got a will to find anything from Redgrave.
Thanx to my friend Payya (Festa Desperato) for sending this one.

More Than Relaxing

At last !
The Heads , debut album, Relaxing With... originally released in 1996, is due for a re-mastered, re-release on August 30th, packed with an extra disc including unreleased tracks and John Peel sessions.

The Bristol four piece, produce a psychedelic mass of feedback, riffs and amp blowing noise, straight from the underground scene created by the likes of the Stooges, Hawkwind and The Velvet Underground.

The original album, on disc 1, is a huge mass of stonking riffs, deep, knee trembling bass and thumping percussion. Huge in sound, yet disturbingly chilled out, this is music to get lost in.

Experimental from start to finish, with vocals that ooze coolness. This is an album that rips up the rule book and defies stereotype.

#3 Chipped
#4 Slow Down
#5 U33

#9 Taken Too Much
#10 Coogans Bluff
Time : 77 min (!)

To end the first disc, comes Coogan’s Bluff, 45 minutes of guitar and drum beat excess, this monstrous track is a 45 minute trip, and I’m not talking the kind that requires a picnic, complete with highs and a comedown at the end, it is a piece of rock music that deserves a review in its own right, if you can bare to listen to the excess for the full 45 minutes that is.

Disk Two
Tracklist:
#1 Spliff Riff (#1)

#14 Widowmaker (John Peel Session)
#15 Theme (John Peel Session)
#16 Woke Up (John Peel Session)
#17 Spliff Riff (John Peel Session)

Time : 69 min

Disc 2, begins with 1991’s demo, Spliff Riff, a frantic blaze of stomping drums and fuzzy, screaming riffs. The 9 minutes of mind bending noise, sets the tone really for what follows, original versions and b sides of tracks from disc 1 and brilliantly raw Radio 1 sessions, including 5 John Peel sessions at the end of the disc.

This album is a mind bending, hallucinogenic of experimental, psychedelic chaos and noise that demands a place on your record collection
